Batsford Arboretum is home to one of the finest botanical collections in the country and is run by the charitable trust, The Batsford Foundation. The Arboretum is planted on a south facing slope which means visitors get to see our magnificent tree and plant collections from an unusual angle, as well as the stunning views of the Evenlode Valley beyond. At 56 acres in size, Batsford is an intimate and romantic place to visit, with interest all year round from the first snowdrops of spring, right through to the outstanding autumn colour in October and November.

Batsford is also home to a beautiful new wooden visitor centre where you’ll find the Garden Terrace Café, Gift and Garden Shop and the Plant Centre within the walls of the Victorian kitchen garden. Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre was silver winner of the Cotswold Tourism Awards Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 2014.

At Batsford Arboretum it is important that all visitors, when they leave, feel relaxed, refreshed and reinvigorated by the natural beauty.  The arboretum is open every day of the year except Christmas Day and there is only a charge for entry to the Arboretum itself.  Entry to the Café, Garden and Gift Shops and Plant Centre is free, so even if you don’t have time to visit the beautiful tree collection, you can still enjoy the atmosphere and shopping at Batsford.

Whatever your level of gardening experience, the Garden Shop and Plant Centre team are always on hand to offer help and advice about growing – whether in your back garden or on the allotment.

Batsford Arboretum has a lovely annual programme of events – from outdoor Shakespeare productions under the arboretum tree canopy to gardening themed talks and special events.  There are also key times of year when the arboretum itself is alive with interest – and not just the autumn!

Batsford’s shop has a lovely range of unusual and quirky ideas as well as a great selection of shabby chic vintage furniture and gifts in the Applestore which is open Wednesday to Sunday in the arboretum opening hours.

Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee before your visit to the arboretum or fancy meeting up with family and friends for a lovely hot lunch or afternoon tea, the Garden Terrace Café offers a lovely relaxed atmosphere inside, with plenty of seating on the wooden deck overlooking the plant centre (when the weather allows!). Dogs are welcome at Batsford – both inside and out.
