Perfect Spa Day at The Greenway Hotel

I was planning a business meeting with my good friend, Jane Riddell, wedding and event planner extraordinaire. We had lots to discuss, so we decided the very best way to be really productive, would be if we held this meeting over several hours while mixing business with luxury, pleasure, good food and relaxation… obviously! The setting for our very high-powered and super important business meeting could only be one place: The Spa at Greenway Hotel i Cheltenham.

    In for a luxurious treat

We arrived at 10am and were greeted warmly by the spa manager who explained what we could expect from our day of luxury. We were in for a real treat with lovely treatments, relaxation in the jacuzzi, cool swims and feet up by the pool, a delicious lunch in the spa restaurant and drinks outside. Wonderful, we couldn’t wait to get going.

    Straight to the jacuzzi

We started our day of tranquillity and relaxation by heading straight for the outside jacuzzi, glass of bubbly in hand. It was overcast and even rained a bit a couple of times, but that just made the jacuzzi experience even better, actually, as a bit of cool was the perfect accompaniment to the hot bubbles.

    The perfect spa day lunch

From the hot bubbles to the refreshingly cooler water of the pool inside, not cold by any means, just cooler. After a dip in the pool and another relaxing session on the pool loungers, it was time for lunch. We were seated in the cosy spa restaurant and with a choice of 2 courses from starter, main and pudding, we had already made our selections earlier. Jane had the smoked salmon and I had the fish cakes, both absolutely delicious, light and refreshing. For pudding I had the panna cotta and Jane the chocolate dessert, both we really delicious and the perfect choice for our relaxing spa day lunch.

    Spectacular treatments

Following the lunch was our treatments. We both had the Egyptian massage, an ancient therapeutic massage technique that includes a combination of soft tissue and muscle manipulation, warm kneading and sweeping strokes to lengthen inactive muscles, stimulate circulation and the lymphatic system. Warm oil mixed with sea salt is used to help the joints and leave the skin feeling soft and exfoliated. It was… spectacular!

    Fantastic spa facilities

We ended our spa day by the pool, relaxing on the loungers, taking a dip and then back on the loungers. It was a perfect spa day. The spa facilities are fantastic. Well laid out, super changing rooms, sensory shower, a lovely restaurant, jacuzzi and hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, sanarium, alfresco hot tub and five-star service from all members of staff.

An oasis of calm and luxury

Now, was the spa a great place for a meeting? No, not so much. But who were we kidding, that was just an excuse anyway, and who can think about business in an oasis of calm and luxury? We left refreshed, revitalised, relaxed and happy, and that was exactly what we needed. Luxurious spa days at The Greenway Hotel range from the £64 3-hour evening package to the £250 Indulgence Spa Day that includes 3 treatments, with a great variety of spa packages in between.
