Slimbridge Wetland Centre in South Cotswolds has the largest collection of swans, geese and ducks in the World, as well as all 6 flamingo species, so whether you’re an avid birdwatcher or a family looking for an amazing day out, there is an abundance to experience and discover all year round.
This popular Cotswold attraction, established back in 1949, was the first of nine wetland centres in the UK that are part of the Wildfowl & Wetland Trust, the brainchild of artist and naturalist, Sir Peter Scott.
Slimbridge Wetland Centre is a 325 hectare haven for wildlife and visitors alike. The area provides perfect conditions throughout the year for shelter, food and breeding, and allows it’s guests to experience this up close and personal all year round.
Slimbridge is not just home to 200 species of birds, it is also home to some of the few mammals that especially thrive in wet conditions, water voles, otters and beavers. And in the summer of 2016, a brand new breed of celebrity duck was welcomed to the centre, Dusty Duck and his 14 celebrity friends, GIANT ducks inviting visitors on an exciting adventure, exploring and trying new things and, of course, making friends along the way!
And at the end of your visit to Slimbridge Wetland Centre, you can have a hot drink, cream tea or a meal in the Water’s Edge Cafe, a fantastic space with big windows where you can continue to enjoy the amazing views of the Caribbean flamingos.
