    A hidden gem in Cheltenham

Come and visit Dryhill Vineyard, located on the Cotswold Escarpment, for Vineyard Tours & Tastings of an international Award Winning Bubbly

Dryhill Vineyard, a family-run vineyard that offers more than just award-winning wines, offers an experience that encapsulates the very essence of the region. From its Roman roots to its state-of-the-art winemaking process, Dryhill invites visitors to embark on a journey that educates and delights.

    A legacy rooted in history

Dryhill’s story begins not in the 21st century, but centuries earlier. Excavations in 2023 unearthed a Roman coin, solidifying the land’s connection to viticulture. The Romans, known for their appreciation of high-quality wines, likely recognised the potential of this sunny, south-westerly facing slope. Fast forward to 2015, when the land was purchased and 2,000 vines were meticulously planted, marking the beginning of Dryhill’s modern-day journey.

    A microclimate that nurtures excellence

The Cotswolds, often associated with rolling hills and picturesque villages, possesses a unique microclimate that surprisingly proves to be grape-friendly. Dryhill sits around 130 meters above sea level, nestled in a small fold in the hill that protects it from the harsh northerly winds. This sheltered location, combined with the free-draining Cotswold brash (fine stones and small rocks) beneath the thin soil layer, creates an ideal environment for the vines to thrive.

From vine to bottle: A passionate process

Dryhill’s commitment to quality extends beyond the natural advantages of the land. The vines are meticulously tended by hand, ensuring each receives the necessary care for optimal growth. This hands-on approach allows the team to identify potential issues early on and maintain the vines’ health.

The journey from vine to bottle is a meticulous process steeped in knowledge and passion. Once the grapes reach peak ripeness, they are hand-harvested, ensuring only the best quality fruit makes its way to the winery.

Sparkling Cotswolds: The wines of Dryhill

Dryhill’s focus is on crafting exceptional sparkling wines, the perfect embodiment of celebration and indulgence. Their philosophy is to harvest late, allowing the grapes to develop a delicate balance between ripeness and acidity, which translates into a complex and well-rounded final product. The result is a range of sparkling wines that have garnered acclaim. The 2020 Classic Cuvee recently won a Silver medal at the international wine challenge, beating over 100 Champagne houses. The 2020 Blanc de Blancs is one to look out for.

One happy customer recently commented about our Slippery Slope rose : “very very impressed, dare I say I might prefer it to Whispering Angel”

But Dryhill’s passion extends beyond just bubbles. They also offer a still Pinot Noir, showcasing the potential of this grape variety in the Cotswolds. This unique offering allows wine enthusiasts to experience the distinct character of the region expressed in a different style.
