A new exclusive gift shop called The Baobab Tree has sprung up in The Square in Stow on the Wold. Baobab Trees are also known as ‘The Tree of Life’ and are an icon of the African savannah, and owner Ms Ann Mawdsley certainly hopes her new shop becomes an icon of Stow on the Wold too!
Ann, who was born in Zimbabwe, is thrilled to bring a little piece of her origins and her sense of humour to Stow and she has been delighted at the smiles and positive reactions to the shop. The shop has a broad range of gifts that are all slightly quirky and great quality – supporting fair trade as well as new and emerging artists and crafters in the UK and beyond. You will find beautiful jewellery, leather bags, pottery, lamps, garden gnomes, candles, glasswear, crockery, baskets, taxtiles …. the list goes on and on. Or you may just want to come and meet our resident giraffe – Bab – who adorns our window!
So whether you are looking for a little something to cheer yourself up through the rest of the winter, need a small gift or something more special – we are sure to have something that is different to the norm that you will like!
We will be bringing in new items all the time so there will always be something different and interesting, and if it’s not in the shop – we’ll do our best to source your gifts for you. We look forward to welcoming you for a visit.
