Four upcoming workshops in August and September:
Hand-Tied Bouquets with Bloomery
On Thursday 19 August guests can join experienced florist Allyson Martin from Bloomery for a relaxed and inspiring hand-tied bouquet workshop. The session begins with a gentle stroll through Kiftsgate’s cutting garden, where participants can gather a few extra stems to personalise their arrangement. Back on the veranda, Allyson will share expert tips on making cut flowers last longer and selecting the best seasonal blooms and foliage. Participants will be guided through the spiralling technique to form a loose, natural bouquet, learning how to tie and wrap their creation before taking it home in a glass vase and a Bloomery gift bag. The workshop is priced at £100 per person.

Garden-Inspired Mosaic Workshop
For those with an interest in a different kind of artistry, Gloucestershire-based mosaic artist Wal Bibbings will lead a hands-on workshop on Thursday 8 September. Inspired by the vibrant colours and forms of the Kiftsgate garden, this full-day course allows attendees of all abilities to create their own 8×8” garden-themed mosaic on MDF. Wal will cover essential techniques, from cutting and shaping tesserae to effective placement and grouting. Participants will experiment with both ceramic and glass tiles, learning how to combine materials for a striking effect. This workshop is priced at £90 per person.

Willow Basket Weaving
Yeoman basket maker Mollie McMillen will share her traditional and sustainable craft on Thursday 10 September. In a hands-on workshop suitable for all skill levels, Mollie will offer step-by-step guidance as participants create their own strong and durable frame basket using willow grown in the West Country. Mollie, who also creates large-scale artistic sculptures and collaborates on award-winning Chelsea Flower Show gardens, is passionate about sharing her craft. All necessary tools and materials will be provided for this full-day session, which is perfect for creating a basket ideal for foraging or harvesting from the garden. The cost is £115 per person.

Artisan Dried Floral Workshop
Finally, on Thursday 15 September, local grower and flower preserver Lucy Phillips will lead a creative workshop exploring the art of drying and arranging garden-gathered florals. The session begins with a walk through Kiftsgate’s extensive gardens, where Lucy will introduce the best drying techniques for different varieties. Under her expert guidance, attendees will then use Lucy’s artisan dried peonies to craft a contemporary ‘ikebana’-inspired arrangement, allowing their own creativity and style to flourish in a relaxed and engaging environment. The workshop is priced at £115 per person.
