Gold Cup Day dining at The Chequers ∙ A Cheltenham finale worth savouring

As Cheltenham Festival builds to its most anticipated moment, The Chequers invites guests to settle in for a truly atmospheric Gold Cup lunch on Thursday 13 March. With all the racing shown throughout the day and the Gold Cup itself at 4pm, it’s the perfect setting to enjoy the excitement from first race to final furlong in relaxed Cotswold surroundings.

To mark the occasion, the kitchen has created a special Gold Cup Menu, available at two courses for £32 or three for £38, celebrating hearty seasonal flavours and classic British comfort. Starters include Tamworth ham hock terrine and a beautifully light twice-baked cheddar soufflé, followed by satisfying mains such as sirloin steak Diane, traditional steak and ale pie with bone marrow mash, or smoked haddock with hollandaise. Desserts bring a nostalgic flourish, with favourites like sticky toffee pudding and raspberry and champagne trifle.

Whether gathering for a sociable lunch with friends or making a full afternoon of racing, food and atmosphere, The Chequers offers a warm and welcoming place to celebrate the biggest day in the racing calendar. Tables can be booked in advance to ensure guests don’t miss a moment of the Gold Cup action.
