Lorentz Gullachsen showcases artistic talent with support from Grey’s Teas

Photographer Lorentz Gullachsen is in the midst of an inspiring long-term project, provisionally titled “Unique.” The series highlights artists and makers through striking portraiture, celebrating the creativity that enriches cultural life. “It’s a privilege to capture the individuality and talent of these people,” Lorentz explains, adding his gratitude for the sponsorship provided by Grey’s Teas.

Exploring the world of sculpture

Among those featured is sculptor Piotr Gargas, whom Lorentz recently photographed at the Oxfordshire studio he shares with fellow artist Martin Cash. The portrait aims to capture more than a likeness—it offers a window into the intense, hands-on world where raw stone and other materials are shaped into expressive works of art.

Kingham Sculpture Exhibition

Both Gargas and Cash will also appear at the upcoming Kingham Sculpture Exhibition (17–26 May), where they will create and demonstrate their craft live. Visitors will be able to see their process in action, providing a rare chance to appreciate sculpture as it evolves.

Piotr Gargas’ artistic journey

Piotr’s career began with five years of rigorous training in Poland, where he immersed himself in classical methods and studied the techniques of past masters. He went on to spend a decade working across Europe, restoring intricate stone details on historic buildings—a discipline he likens to “cosmetic surgery” for architecture. This work, however, did more than preserve heritage; it shaped his own artistic language.

Since settling in Oxfordshire, Piotr has worked on some of the region’s historic colleges and churches while developing his own practice. His portfolio now extends beyond stone into wood, clay, and even digital sculpting, reflecting both tradition and innovation.

A project about people and their stories

For Gullachsen, “Unique” is about more than portraits. It is about narrating the journeys, influences, and creative forces that drive each artist forward. “The backing of Grey’s Teas reinforces how vital it is to support those who dedicate themselves to artistic expression,” he says.
