The best drinks for Halloween ∙ A guide by Vinotopia

Looking for the perfect wines, beers, and spirits to celebrate Halloween? Look no further! The good people of Vinotopia have put together a list of some of the spookiest drinks out there. Whether you’re looking for a scary red, a ghoulish ale, or a spine-tingling white, they’ve got you covered.

Reichsrat Von Buhl Bone Dry Riesling 2023
With it’s eye-catching label (that glows in the dark when held to UV light) Reichsrat Von Buhl Bone Dry Riesling is, as the name would suggest, “bone dry”.
Bright and lively with distinctive aromas of fresh peach and apricot, counterbalanced by an edge of flint and minerality. Full and intense on the palate with a little fleshiness and real approachability. Excellent length.
Reichsrat von Buhl is certified organic and is an active ambassador of both natural, sustainable viticulture and the best German wines.

Fior di Sole Pinot Noir Long Barn 2021
From California, this Long Barn Pinot Noir is a pale ruby red in colour with a soft nose of red cherries. On the palate, notes of bramble fruit and cherries combine with a subtle sweet spice character and a fresh acidity. Well structured with soft tannins and a silky mouthfeel, the fresh fruit flavours linger on the palate.
The tenuous spooky-looking image on the label may remind you of a backdrop to a horror movie.
Little Ox Brew Co Dark & Seedy Vanilla Stout 440ml
Black as the night and super smooth. Chocolate, roasted coffee and berry fruits embrace your taste buds with a sweet vanilla finish. Full-bodied, rich and decadent to the core.
Unfiltered, unpasteurised, gluten-free, and vegan…. and soooo spooky!!

Raven Rare blended Scotch whisky is made in batches of approximately 25,000 bottles from a careful selection of grain and malt whiskies (with a good portion of the malt coming from Glen Moray).
Notes of vanilla, toffee, butterscotch, biscuits and green apple.
La Pausa Organic Fairtrade Malbec 2021
‘La Pausa’ means ‘The Pause’, a moment to reflect and remember what is important. For Vinotopia it was to consider the environment and their social responsibility, so ‘La Pausa’ is a low-intervention organic Malbec in a new 30% lighter weight bottle with sustainably sourced FSC certified labels. The wine is also certified Fairtrade, so 100% of grapes are sourced from producers who ensure workers’ rights, safer working conditions and fairer pay.
La Pausa Organic Malbec offers a deliciously ripe, fruit-driven nose with violet aromatics; a freshness on the palate complements the full, smooth, and rich fruit character of the wine, a note of spice adding complexity to the long finish.

Vandal Militia Field Blend 2022
In keeping with the craziness of the wines from Vandal, the Militia Field Blend is made from nine varieties all harvested together and co-fermented.
On paper, this shouldn’t work, but it does. It has become a seamless blend of richness, aromatic stoned fruits, and silky texture. An original and unique wine.
The Vinotopia team says: “It’s Bat S**t Crazy, but it’s delicious!!!”

Gather your friends, and while the kids are out scaring the neighbours, dim the lights, and enjoy a hauntingly good time with these spooky wines! Cheers to a frightfully fun Halloween! 🍷👻
