The Cotswolds is packed with family-friendly attractions and fantastic places to go with kids, and with the stunning scenery and outstanding natural beauty, it’s also the perfect backdrop for a memorable getaway.

One of the best things about visiting the Cotswolds with kids is our abundance of beautiful and green outdoor spaces. From gentle strolls through picturesque villages like Bourton-on-the-Water, often dubbed the “Venice of the Cotswolds” with its shallow river perfect for paddling, to more adventurous hikes along the Cotswold Way, there are trails to suit all ages and abilities. You can explore woodlands, discover hidden streams, and spot wildlife together – the natural world becomes an interactive playground.

    Fabulous attractions in the Cotswolds

Beyond the scenic walks, we have so many great attractions in the Cotswolds, many specifically geared towards children and families. Animal loving kids will delight in visiting Cotswold Farm Park, Cotswold Wildlife Park, and Birdland to name but a few. For a touch of magic, a visit to the Model Village in Bourton-on-the-Water is a must-see, captivating both young and old with its intricate miniature world.

    Teach the kids our history

History comes alive in the Cotswolds too. Visiting Blenheim Palace with kids is a fantastic day out exploring grand history, beautiful gardens, and perhaps even a fun maze to keep them entertained. Exploring the ruins of a medieval castle like Sudeley Castle, complete with fascinating stories and beautiful gardens, can spark imaginations. Or go back even further, 5,500 years to be exact, and visit The Rollright Stones.

    And then, time to eat

When it’s time for a break, the Cotswolds is dotted with charming tea rooms and family-friendly pubs offering delicious treats and welcoming atmospheres. Many also have gardens or outdoor play areas, allowing children to burn off some energy while parents relax.

The pace of life in the Cotswolds is generally slower, encouraging families to reconnect and enjoy quality time together. Whether it’s a leisurely picnic amidst rolling hills, a fun-filled afternoon at a local attraction, or simply exploring a quaint village, the Cotswolds provides a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, creating the perfect setting for shared experiences for families to cherish.
