A child goes missing, vanishes into thin air, leaving a tender, fragmentary play about the inarticulacy of grief.
One Minute is the current play shown at Barn Theatre. It follows several connected characters through their struggles with Daisy Schults’s disappearance: the two policemen investigating the disappearance; Daisy’s mother Anne; and Marie Louise, a woman who glimpsed Daisy after she had been separated from her mother. Robert is new to the police force, and his enthusiasm for the case is keener than that of his cynical colleague Gary. Mary Louise begins a strange friendship with a woman who knows Gary from the café where she works. Anne’s life has stopped: she wants to know when ‘missing’ becomes ‘presumed dead’.
One Minute is a disquieting portrait of the lives that are united in the single moment it takes for a child to disappear.
With a vision to be a world-renowned theatre destination, Barn Theatre inspires, challenges and entertains audiences, Barn Theatre produces house, enriching lives with outstanding theatre, education and culture.
Driven by a deep passion for theatre, Ian Carling and his wife Chrissie have pioneered a bold theatrical legacy for Cirencester. Community and youth theatre have thrived at the venue for over thirty years, but now this site has been taken to a new level. The former 1940s Nissen hut has been transformed into a beautiful, state-of-the-art, air-conditioned auditorium for 200 theatre-lovers. With a studio rehearsal suite, dressing rooms, a green room, and an orchestra pit, audiences will experience entertainment that competes with the West End.
Right next door to the theatre, through an archway behind Ingleside House you will find the
new, highly-acclaimed 60-seat restaurant and piano bar, Teatro. With a car park just across the road, dinner and a show never got easier.
The Barn Theatre Project is a registered charity working with individuals, businesses, trusts and grant-giving bodies to ensure that the theatre is thriving for years to come.
