A creative evening celebrating flowers, nature, and the timeless art of flower pressing is coming to The Swan at Ascott-under-Wychwood this October.

On Thursday 8 October, botanical artists Antonia and Zippy from Pressto Flowers will be taking over The Nest, The Swan’s private dining room, for a relaxed, hands-on workshop where guests can learn how to press flowers and transform delicate blooms into their own botanical artwork.

With bubbles, canapés, plenty of creativity, and something beautiful to take home at the end of the evening, it sounds like a rather lovely way to spend an autumn evening in the Cotswolds.

∙ LEARN THE ART OF FLOWER PRESSING ∙

Flower pressing is a wonderfully simple way of preserving the colours, shapes, and details of flowers long after they have bloomed, and this workshop is designed to introduce guests to the craft in a relaxed and accessible way. Antonia and Zippy will demonstrate how to press flowers by hand before sharing their tips and techniques for working with pressed blooms and creating beautiful compositions.

Guests will then have the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice, designing and creating their own unique piece of floral artwork. No previous experience is needed, making it just as suitable for complete beginners as it is for those who already enjoy getting creative and fancy learning something new.

All of the materials needed for the evening are included, with guests creating both a unique piece of botanical artwork and handmade note cards to take home. There will be friendly, step-by-step tuition throughout, so there is plenty of opportunity to experiment with different designs and discover how individual flowers, leaves, colours, and shapes can be brought together.

And, of course, this is The Swan, so creativity will be accompanied by a selection of delicious canapés and a glass or two of bubbles. It makes the workshop a lovely choice for an evening with a friend, a creative date night, or simply an opportunity to spend a few hours doing something completely different.

Set in the Cotswold village of Ascott-under-Wychwood, The Swan provides a particularly lovely setting for an evening inspired by nature. The workshop will take place in The Nest, its private dining room, from 6.30pm until 9.30pm on Thursday 8 October.

Tickets are £85 per person and include the three-hour workshop, all materials, botanical artwork and handmade note cards to take home, canapés, and bubbles. Spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended.
