Halloween fun at Bibury Trout Farm this half term
There are some places that just work brilliantly for a family day out, and Bibury Trout Farm is one of them. This October half term, one of the Cotswolds’ loveliest outdoor family attractions is adding a little spooky fun to the mix with its Halloween Trail, running from 24 October to 1 November 2026.
Set in the beautiful village of Bibury, the farm is a great choice for families looking to get the children outdoors, with plenty to see and do and lots of space to explore. And for Halloween, there will be a few extra surprises waiting around the farm.

∙ THE HALLOWEEN TRAIL ∙
This October half term, families can follow a self-guided trick-or-treat trail around the farm, keeping their eyes peeled for spooky surprises along the way.
Children can collect stamps on their trail card before swapping the completed card for a Halloween treat in the farm shop, with plenty of spooky photo opportunities dotted around the grounds too.
There will also be marshmallow toasting around the fire, and children who arrive in fancy dress get free entry, so there is every reason to dig out those witches’ hats, vampire capes, and pumpkin costumes.
There are no time slots and no need to book, so families can simply drop in at any time during opening hours and enjoy the trail as part of their day at the farm.
It sounds like a lovely way to add a little Halloween magic to a proper day outdoors, without making the whole experience too scary for younger visitors.
∙ ONE OF OUR FAVOURITE FAMILY DAYS OUT ∙
Halloween aside, Bibury Trout Farm is well worth having on the list for a family day out in the Cotswolds.
Founded in 1902, it is England’s oldest working trout farm, with beautiful grounds to explore in the heart of Bibury. Children can watch and feed the trout, look out for wildlife, enjoy the play area, and have a go at crazy golf. There is also the opportunity to catch your own trout, with equipment provided by the farm, subject to availability and weather conditions.
It is one of those attractions where being outdoors is a big part of the fun. There are ponds and waterways to wander around, picnic benches dotted around the farm, and plenty for curious little visitors to investigate. The farm itself describes its fishing as an easy and fun family activity, while its educational experiences encourage children to learn about trout, wildlife, and the natural environment.
And being right in the middle of Bibury means it is easy to combine a trip to the farm with a wander around one of the Cotswolds’ best-known villages.

∙ LUNCH, CAKE & COFFEE ∙
No good family day out is complete without somewhere for the grown-ups to get a coffee, and the farm has a lovely café too.
The café is open daily and serves a seasonal menu including trout dishes, vegetarian choices, soups, homemade cakes, ice creams, and artisan coffee, with plenty of outdoor seating for those crisp autumn days.
Families are also welcome to bring a picnic, with plenty of picnic benches around the farm and a dedicated picnic area beside the crazy golf.

For families looking for things to do over October half term, this one ticks a lot of boxes: fresh air, plenty of space to explore, fish and wildlife, a play area, food and drink, and a Halloween trail thrown in too.
