Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cotswolds Distillery has been producing award-winning spirits since 2014. Renowned for exceptional quality and craftsmanship, the distillery has become one of the region’s most celebrated destinations, creating everything from distinguished single malt whiskies to beautifully balanced gins and liqueurs.

The story begins with founder Dan Szor, a New Yorker with a lifelong passion for whisky. After years spent working in finance in London, Dan relocated to the Cotswolds seeking a slower pace of life and more time with his family. Surrounded by fields of golden barley, inspiration struck. Realising that no one was producing whisky from the abundance of local grain, he saw an opportunity to create something truly unique.

What began as a vision soon became reality. A derelict site near his home was transformed into a state-of-the-art distillery, and in July 2014, Cotswolds Distillery opened its doors with a mission to produce world-class spirits rooted in the landscape that inspired them.

While whisky was always the ultimate ambition, the journey started with gin. Months of research, experimentation, and over 150 individual botanical distillations led to the creation of what would become the now-iconic Cotswolds Dry Gin. From more than 60 carefully crafted recipes emerged a single standout expression, one that remains at the heart of the distillery’s success today.

Three years later, in October 2017, the distillery proudly released its first whisky: the Cotswolds Signature Single Malt Whisky. As the first whisky ever distilled in the Cotswolds, it marked a significant milestone not only for the distillery but for English whisky production. Since then, the range has expanded to include the acclaimed Cask Collection, limited-edition Hearts & Crafts releases inspired by the region’s artistic heritage, and exclusive single-cask bottlings sought after by whisky enthusiasts around the world.

With three guided tours running daily, every day of the week, guests can go behind the scenes to learn about the craft, passion, and expertise that goes into creating every bottle.

Beyond the distillery, charming boutiques in Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway offer the perfect opportunity to browse and sample the collection while exploring some of the Cotswolds’ most iconic villages.

As day turns to evening, The Hidden Still Cocktail Bar provides an unforgettable setting to unwind. Open on Friday and Saturday evenings, guests can sip expertly crafted cocktails and award-winning spirits while taking in breathtaking views across the rolling Cotswold countryside.
