A Wonderful Afternoon Tea by a Roaring Fire
The perfect backdrop for afternoon tea has to be a roaring fire… surely. And on Saturday when we sat down for what was going to be a truly wonderful Champagne Afternoon Tea at Charingworth Manor, we were delighted to find that we were going to get just that: A Wonderful Afternoon Tea by a Roaring Fire.
Very Well Looked After
We were shown into the lounge and welcomed by the lovely staff who made sure we were very well looked after throughout. Seated next to the warm fire, looking out on what was a pretty but both cold and wet day in early March, it was lovely and cosy and we were happy with anticipation of all the sweet treats and savoury delights… oh, and the bubbles, obvs.
Incredibly Delicious Sandwiches
The Champagne Afternoon Tea at Charingworth Manor is a true delight. An absolute abundance of delights, actually. We had some incredibly delicious sandwiches, we even got to choose exactly the sandwiches we wanted to enjoy. They were all amazing… special mention, though, to the Chicken Caesar Salad sandwich… YUM!
Afternoon Tea with Strawberries
An added bonus in the personalised sandwich selection were smoked salmon and crème fraiche as well as a black pudding sausage roll… delicious!
From sandwiches on the traditional scones with clotted cream and jam. A delicious tier. Then another “bonus” in the form of beautiful strawberries and chocolate to dip them in… thinking of starting a petition to have that made a staple of all afternoon teas!
A Rhubarb Memory
And finally the chef’s homemade sweet treats of the top tier: Lemon drizzle polenta cake, passion fruit Panna Cotta, a yummy chocolate brownie… all delicious, but the most delicious was the rhubarb custard tart… firstly because it was just incredibly delicious, but secondly because it reminded me of my late grandmother who used to always make rhubarb jelly for me when I was a child, so this particular tart brought back some wonderful memories.
A Wonderful Afternoon Tea Experience
Accompanying all these wonderful treats were tea and coffee as well as a refreshing glass of Champagne. This afternoon tea experience at Charingworth Manor was wonderful.. so many parts of it made the overall experience extra special and it is one we will remember and treasure for a long time.
