the cotswold show cirencester park town meets country bathurst estate

Two whole days in the heart of The Cotswolds… what could possibly be more wonderful?! That is The Cotswold Show and Food Festival, two days where 30,000 visitors from the Cotswolds and far beyond head to the 100 acres of land and gardens surrounding the home of The Earl Bathurst, Cirencester Park in Cirencester.

The Cotswold Show offers visitors a wide range of activities and family fun. This year the Bathurst Arena will feature BMX Savage Skills Show – the UK’s leading freestyle mountain bike stunt team will thrill you with incredibly exciting and breath-taking stunts. Also appearing will be Mounted Games Association of Great Britain – fast and furious family entertainment with the speed of the ponies and the agility and horsemanship of the riders second to none.

Activities and Family Fun in the Cotswolds

Elsewhere there are working dogs demonstrations, falconry displays, hands on animal and countryside experiences, archery, clay shooting, tree climbing, bungee trampolines and a delicious food festival with a cookery theatre featuring chefs from some of the Cotswolds’ best hotels and restaurants including Nik Chappell from The Slaughters Manor and Ales Maurer from The Lygon Arms. And that’s just the start of the entertainment!

The World of Dogs – a whole area of the Showground dedicated to man’s best friend with Terrier Racing and a Show, Lurcher Racing and a Show, Family Dog Show, Gun Dog Scurries, Dog Agility and much more.

There are over 250 trade stands, so expect a wonderful shopping experience, with everything from dog treats to fine art as local businesses share their produce and products with the visitors throughout the two days.

The vision of The Cotswold Show was dreamed up in the mid-eighties by Earl Bathurst who wished to put on a show “Where Town Meets Country”. In 1989 the very first Cotswold Show was put on and it was a great success.

Lord Bathurst still champions the show and works hard at promoting respect and understanding of the countryside and country issues among his neighbours and friends from near and far, in towns and cities. And on top of that, he and the organisers quite simply wish to give everyone a great day out in the Cotswolds.
