Great British Celebration at Ellenborough Park
Royal Afternoon Tea by executive head chef David Kelman
As the country has marked the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, a special treat is served in Her honour at Ellenborough Park. Executive head chef David Kelman has expertly-crafted a delicious afternoon tea inspired by icons of the Queen’s 64-year reign.
Reflecting the Queen’s love of horses, decades of fashionable hats for royal engagements and guardianship of the nation’s swans, David Kelman’s celebratory afternoon tea adds a touch of regal splendour to this quintessentially British delight, served on china fit for a queen.
Delicate meringue swans filled with new-season, succulent strawberries nestle between David Kelman’s triplelayer
chocolate cake, a personal favourite of the sovereign. Fashioned from pastry and passionfruit is an elegant
headpiece that wouldn’t look out of place in the royal box, intricately decorated with sugar flowers. At the
centre of the patisserie plate is a salted caramel chocolate stamped with a historic Tudor rose, symbolising the
Queen’s ancestry and Ellenborough Park’s own roots in 16th century history. A refined spread of finger
sandwiches in classic British flavours and freshly-baked scones with decadent jam and clotted cream also take
their place on the cake stand.
Three Cheers and an Afternoon Tea
Enjoy the Royal Afternoon Tea alongside a selection of loose blends from Ellenborough Park’s tea chest, a chilled flute of Champagne Billecart-Salmon or a Carrozza Martini, designed exclusively for the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The Carrozza Martini, named in honour of one of the Queen’s favourite racehorses, is a blend of Pimm’s No1, Tanqueray No.Ten, fresh lime juice and a dash of citrus – three cheers for Her Majesty!
Ellenborough Park’s Royal Afternoon Tea is available between April – June, priced at £25 per person. Add a glass of
Champagne Billecart-Salmon for £12 or a Carrozza Martini for £9.
