• The Painswick, a perfect getaway.

Our super summer staycations in the Cotswolds are mostly about the things we do in the Cotswolds with the kids, but sometimes I find a little time for a relaxing getaway just for one of my besties and me, such a getaway was a stay I had at The Painswick Hotel in picture-perfect Painswick in the South Cotswolds.

We enjoyed a special getaway at The Painswick Hotel, perfect with planned treatments, dinner, bed and breakfast. The Painswick is one of the most wonderful hotels in the Cotswolds, perfect for couples and friends to enjoy the luxury, culinary delights and relaxing rooms and lounges, all set in the picture-perfect surroundings of the Cotswold village of Painswick.

    Bright and Breezy ‘Doverte Brook’

We arrived in Painswick early in the afternoon and straight away checked in to our beautiful, comfortable room with views like you wouldn’t believe. We were in the room named Doverte Brook, one side of the which is a perfect half circle with rounded walls. The room was one of the The Painswick’s ‘Big’ room, classed as “Bright and breezy, pretty as a picture and treated to quirky Palladian touches with curved walls, wonderful windows galore and beds begging for you to jump into”, and that description totally covers it, because our room was just that. Absolutely wonderful, with a super bathroom with tub and shower, a very well stocked mini bar, TV, radio, fireplace, lovely books and unrivalled Cotswold views out of each of the 4 windows. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to call home for the night.

    The Tastiest Haddock Chowder

We had facial treatments booked for 3.30 and with the weather a bit of the wet side, we decided a lovely lunch by the fire in one of the hotel lounges would be the perfect way to start our relaxing time at The Painswick. And was it ever?! Lunch at The Painswick was delicious! I had the incredibly tasty haddock chowder – hands down the best chowder I’ve ever had and the perfect comfort food for a cool and wet day spent inside cosying up by the fire.

    Half an hour of Pampering

Time flies when you’re in good company, so 3.30pm came around fast and it was time for our beauty treatments in the Painswick treatment rooms. We had chosen to have facials, a great choice as after half an hour of pampering they left us feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to… well, relax some more. It was time for a hot drink by the hot fire, served with homemade ‘to-die-for’ chocolate chip biscuits.

    Drinks on the Balcony

Later in the evening the weather changed, the rain stopped and the sunshine came, so our pre-dinner drinks were enjoyed on the balcony while taking in some more of those unbelievable views. We also had a little sneak-peek of the dinner menu here – it was clear that we were in for a treat.

    A Memorable Meal

The restaurant at The Painswick is so beautiful. Very cosy, warm and comfortable, the perfect setting for a nice dinner in the Cotswolds. We both chose the scollop starter, for our main course we had beef wellington and steak and for dessert the souffle and the creme brulee. Every single mouthful was absolutely delicious, well prepared and lovingly presented. Our dinner at The Painswick was the kind of meal we will remember for a long, long time.

“Thank You, Thank You very much”

Full (very, very full) and happy, it was time for retire and a great night’s sleep in the incredibly comfortable beds was what was waiting for us back in the room. We woke up the next morning well rested and excited to finish our relaxing break at The Painswick with breakfast. Now, I love a hotel breakfast and the one at The Painswick was as good as they come. Delicious juices, healthy options, freshly made Danish and fresh fruits alongside a great menu of cooked breakfast items. I had the poached eggs on sourdough and it was delicious… although I wish I had had the appetite to have the ‘The Full Elvis’ with waffles, bananas, salted caramel ice cream, crispy bacon and chocolate sauce… woah!!!

    Absolutely Perfect

Every single member of staff we encountered during our stay at The Painswick were friendly, courteous and offering us the best service out there. The hotel is beautiful, inside and out, and the atmosphere is great, absolutely perfect for drinks, meals, an overnight stay or a longer holiday in the Cotswolds. I can’t wait to go back again.

The Painswick has some super offers – check them out here or give the hotel a call to enquire.
