• We discovered the joy of pottery ∙ A workshop experience at Honeybourne Pottery

On a blustery Saturday afternoon in December, we went on a creative learning adventure at Honeybourne Pottery, and it was fabulous. This charming studio is run by the lovely potter duo, Alan and Annabel, whose passion for pottery is infectious, and their expertise is evident in every aspect of the workshop.

A world of clay and creativity

Joining a small group of enthusiastic beginners, we stepped into a world of clay and creativity. The studio itself is a beautiful space, filled with natural light and the gentle hum of pottery wheels. Alan’s clear and concise demonstration at the start made the process easy to throw ourselves into, and soon we were all eagerly trying our hand at throwing.

It wasn’t easy, of course. The clay seemed to have a mind of its own, and there were plenty of misshapen pots and pieces along the way. The satisfaction of shaping something from a lump of clay is rewarding, and with each attempt, we saw progress and felt that we were learning with every throw.

    A relaxed and friendly atmosphere

Alan and Annabel were incredibly patient and supportive, offering helpful tips and encouragement. They created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, making the entire experience enjoyable. We loved the friendliness of the group, sharing laughter and tips as we experimented and went on this little journey together.

By the end of the workshop, we had all created a few pieces that we were proud of. We got to take them home to air-dry and will then return to paint and glaze them.

    A fantastic way to learn

If you’re looking for a fun and rewarding way to spend a few hours, we can’t recommend a pottery workshop at Honeybourne Pottery enough. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, you’ll have a memorable time for sure. What a fantastic way to spend a few hours of learning in a nice setting and in safe, skilled hands.

I was so captivated by the experience that I’ve already added a longer pottery course to my Christmas wish list. It’s the perfect gift for anyone who loves creativity and wants to learn a new skill. I’m also planning to gift a few pottery workshops to friends, as I know they’ll love it as much as I did.
